How to Make Indian Chole Saag Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine
India Chole Saag
This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients. It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients. The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose. Recipe makes for 4 Servings
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons curry powder
1 (15 ounce) can sweet peas, drained
1 (15.5 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained
1 (10 ounce) box frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
1 (8 ounce) container plain yogurt
1 cup chicken broth
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in garlic, onion, red pepper flakes, cumin, and curry powder, and cook until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes.
2. Add the drained peas and mash well. Stir in garbanzo beans, spinach, yogurt, and chicken broth. Cook and stir until heated through, then season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
