Thailand Thai-Style Fragrant Rice
This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients. It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients. The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose. In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines. Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian dishes, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.
Recipe makes for 4 Servings
1 1/2 cups jasmine rice
1 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups thick coconut milk
2 teaspoons minced ginger
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 plump lemongrass stalk, tender white inner bulb only, minced
15 leaves fresh curry leaves, chopped
15 leaves Thai basil, chopped
Directions:
1. Rinse the rice under cold water. Combine the rice, water, coconut milk, ginger, soy sauce, lemongrass, and curry leaves in a saucepan and stir.
2.Bring to a boil over medium heat; reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered until rice is tender, about 10 minutes. Fold the basil into the rice. Serve immediately.
