How to Make Korean Style Barbecued Sirloin Steaks Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine

Korea Korean-Style Barbecued Sirloin Steaks

This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian dishes, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.

Recipe makes for 4 Servings

4 sirloin steaks, about 7-8 oz each

1 tbsp fresh pineapple juice

Several lettuce leaves

Coriander and mint

5 tbsp finely chopped green onions

2 tbsp chopped garlic

1 tbsp peeled and finely chopped fresh ginger

5 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

1 tbsp sesame oil

1-2 tbsp sugar

2 tbsp rice wine or sherry

1 – 2 tsp chili flakes

Directions:

Sprinkle steaks with pineapple juice and leave for 30 minutes. Remove from the juice and wipe with a paper towel

Combine green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame seeds, sesame oil, sugar, rice wine and chili flakes. Add the meat to the marinade and turn the steaks to evenly coat them. Marinate for 1-2 hours.

Remove the meat and reserve the marinade. Place marinade in a pan over high heat. Boil for a few minutes. Set aside to use as a basting sauce.

Prepare your grill, medium-high heat. Cook meat in high heat for 2-3 minutes. Move to low heat and cook to desired doneness. Baste each side once with the cooked marinade.

Remove from the fire and let rest before cutting into thin slices and serving with lettuce and fresh herbs.
