How to Make Vietnamese Clay Pot Pork Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine
Vietnam Clay Pot Pork
This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients. It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients. The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose. In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines. We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam. Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian dishes, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.
Recipe makes for 4-6 Servings
2 tbsp canola oil
1/4 cup sugar
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
2 whole shallots, chopped
1 tbsp minced ginger
1-2 chilis chopped
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 1/2 lbs pork tenderloin, cubed about 1 1/2"
salt and pepper to taste
4-6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
1/2 cup water
Directions:
1. Put oil in pot over medium heat, add sugar and cook. Make sure to stir frequently until he sugar dissolves. Add ginger, garlic, shallots, chili and cook for about 4-5 minutes.
2. Turn up the heat to high and add pork. Stir till the meat has browned then add water.
3. When the stew has come to a boil, lower the heat to simmer. Cut hard boiled eggs in half and put into pot.
4. Cover the pot and let it simmer. The longer it simmers, the more the taste is absorbed. After about 30-35 minutes it will be done.
*If you don't have a clay pot, use a normal saucepan.
