How to Make Indian Style Okra Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine

India Easy Indian-Stlye Okra

This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian dishes, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.

Recipe makes for 4 Servings

3 tablespoons butter

1 medium onion, chopped

1 pound sliced fresh okra

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

1/4 teaspoon freshly- ground black pepper

salt to taste

Directions:

1.Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, and cook until tender.

2.Stir in the okra, and season with cumin, ginger, coriander, pepper and salt. Cook and stir for a few minutes, then reduce the heat to medium-low, and cover the pan.

3.Cook over low heat until the okra is tender, remember to stir occasionally!

*Don't wash your okra before cooking or soak it in vinegar to reduce the slime!
