China Pork and Shrimp Chow Mein Stir-Fry


This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.



Recipe makes for 2-3 Servings


8-12 oz. lean pork cut into 1/2-inch strips

4 oz. shrimp, peeled and deveined

1/2 cup mushrooms of choice, sliced

1/2 - 1 cup Chinese cabbage

2 tbsp bamboo shoots

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp Chinese five spice powder

1 1/2 cups cooked chow mein noodles

Directions:


Heat a little oil in a wok or frying pan over high heat.

Add the pork and stir around for 2 minutes to brown on all sides.

Add shrimp and stir for 1 minute. Add mushrooms, chinese cabbage and bamboo shoots. Stir around for 2 minutes.


Add Chinese 5 spice and soy sauce to taste. Add chow mein noodles and stir around for an additional minute. Serve immediately.
