How to Make Middle Eastern Inspired Honey Garlic Pork Chops Cooking Asian Recipe Cuisine

Middle East Honey Garlic Pork Chops

This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.

Recipe makes for 4 Servings

4 bone-in pork chops, 1/2 lb each

salt to season the chops

MARINADE:

2 tbsp honey

2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

6 cloves garlic, crushed to a paste

1 tsp dried lavander

SPICES:

4 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

1 tbsp dried thyme leaves

2 tsp dried marjoram leaves

2 tps sumac

Directions:

In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for the marinade. Combine the chops and marinate in a shallow dish and set aside to marinate for about 1 hour.

In a mortar or food processor, add the ingredients for the spice mixture. Crush slightly and set aside.

Prepare the grill with medium and low heats.

Remove the meat from the marinade. In a small saucepan, add the leftover marinade and simmer over medium-low heat for a few minutes. Set aside to use as a basting sauce.

Just before you begin grilling, sprinkle some salt on the meat and oil the hot grate.

Place meat over the medium-low heat zone and grill each side for about 2-3 minutes, turning regularly and basting regularly with the cooked marinate.

Shortly before the meat is done baste again and turn the meat in the spice mixture until it is covered. Return to the grill and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until finished. Test for doneness by pricking and having the juices run clear.
