How to Make Hong Kong Style Noodles Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine

Hong Kong Chow Mein Style Noodles


This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.



Recipe makes for 2 Servings

4 oz bean sprouts

4 oz yellow chives

4 oz green chives

2 oz carrots

4 oz green onions

2 oz celery

2 oz snow pea pods

4 oz black mushrooms

1/2 cup soya bean oil

8 oz chow mein noodles

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp oyster sauce

2 tsp dark soy sauce

1 cup water

Directions:


Wash all the vegetables and prepare them by taking the ends off the bean sprouts, cutting the chives into 2 inch pieces, slicing the carrots, green onions, celery, snow pea pods and black mushrooms into thin strips.

Heat oil in a large wok. Stir fry the noodles until yellow and crispy all around. Remove from the wok and set aside (make sure to leave some oil in the wok

Add mushrooms, snow peas, carrots, celery and green chives along with salt, oyster sauce and soy sauce.

Return noodles to wok with 1 cup of water and sauté until dry.

Add the bean sprouts and yellow chives, sauté briefly and serve.
