How to Make Korean Beef Rolls Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine

Korea Beef Rolls


This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.



Recipe makes for 4 Servings

vegetable oil, for deep frying

3.5 oz cellophane noodles or rice vermicelli

4 cloves garlic, crushed

1 tbsp peeled and grated fresh ginger

1 small red chili, seeded and chopped or 1 tsp chili paste

12 oz lean ground beef

1/4 cup chopped shallots

2 tsp sesame oil

5 oz firm tofu, finely chopped

12 butter lettuce leaves, trimmed

12 shallots, blanched (optional)

sweet chili sauce


Directions:


In a wok or frying pan, heat vegetable oil until it reaches 375F on a deep-frying thermometer. Working in small batches, add noodles and fry until crisp, about 30 seconds. Using a slotted spoon, remove from pan and drain on paper towels.

In a wok or frying pan over medium-high heat, warm 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Add garlic, ginger and chili and stir fry until aromatic. Add ground beef and cook, stirring until meat changes color. stir in chopped shallots, sesame oil and tofu and cook 1 minute.


Place a lettuce leaf on a work surface. Spoon small amount of crisp noodles and beef mixture on a leaf. Roll up; tie with blanched shallots if desired. Repeat with remaining lettuce leaves. Serve.
