How to Make Burmese Khao Shwe Thoke Asian Cooking Recipe Cuisine

Myanmar Khao Shwe Thoke


This recipe was taken from centuries old cooking techniques and when possible applied modern cooking methods and/or ingredients.  It uses Asian cooking styles, Asian Spices, Asian Sauces and Asian Ingredients.  The style of cooking may have a slight alteration while still maintaining the dish's overall purpose.  In this blog we touch on recipes that may be predominant for the Chinese Cuisines.  We will also share recipes based upon country, or regions such as: Burma, Cambodia, Indian, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.  Some cuisines are considered South Asian, South East Asian, Central Asian and/or Middle Eastern and may not be strictly connected to a specific country or culture.



Recipe makes for 2 Servings

1 tbsp garlic oil

1 tbsp tamarind or lime juice

1 tsp fish sauce

1 tsp dried shrimp powder

1 tsp roasted chili flakes

1 tsp roasted chick pea powder

1 cup cooked egg noodles or spaghetti

1/2 cup shredded cabbage

1/2 cup cooked bean sprouts

1/4 cup sliced raw onion

garnish: cilantro, hard-boiled eggs slices, lime, fried dry rice noodles


Directions:


Whisk garlic oil, tamarind juice, fish sauce, shrimp powder, chili flakes and chick pea powder in a small bowl.

Combine noodles with cabbage, bean sprouts and onion and toss with dressing.

Plate the salad and garnish with cilantro, hard-boiled egg slices, lime wedges and fried dry rice noodles.
