Lao New Year 2557 (Songkran or Songkhan ສົງກຣານ or Pii Mai 2557)

Today marks the beginning of the 3 day celebration of the Laos New Year, called Songkran ສົງກຣານ (Pii Mai) is celebrated every year from April 13 to April 15.  The week will entail several traditional celebrations which include cleaning, worship and of course will end with a festival that announces a beauty queen.  As in any culture, celebration will include traditional dishes in every house hold.
